How to Cheer Yourself Up

It’s been a rough week. I lost my contract work. I had an argument with the kid that reached no satisfying conclusion. When he asks why he needs good grades in the last quarter of school, how do I answer that? Grades don’t matter — we all know that. But it’s finally Friday. If you’ve had the kind of week I’ve had, there’s only one thing to do (besides swill pinot grigio). Look to classic TV.

To cheer myself up, I found two of my favorite TV show clips of all time on YouTube. They’re guaranteed to make you laugh. And with a high-speed connection, you can be laughing in no time. You don’t even have to know these shows to enjoy the clips. You’re welcome.

1) This one is just shy of seven minutes in heaven. From the “Three Valentines” episode of Frasier, it’s David Hyde Pierce brilliance. As Niles gets ready for a big date, Murphy’s Law takes over. With almost no dialogue, he kills.

2) And if that’s not enough, go back a little further in time. In this episode of Taxi, spaced out Reverend Jim (Christopher Lloyd) has to take a driving test to get his cab driver’s license. This one lasts about five minutes.
