Screen Time

It’s been a long, tedious week. Have to keep asking myself if this is it…the last nice day. Should I clean out my car for the last time before winter? Should I bring in the lawn furniture? Can I live in denial and pretend winter won’t be happening at all? Attempts at self-consolation fail. Ooh, I can break out the Uggs. Pumpkin pie. That’s really all I can think of. Sh#$.
You can tell it’s getting cold here in Ohio because the jokes, links, videos, and other stupid things, aka Facebook posts, are coming fast and furious. People have apparently moved indoors and are staring at their computers nonstop. Uncle Stevie recently wrote a column about this in EW. See it here. Like me, Stephen King knows it’s all bad for you, yet can’t give it up. You can contemplate what the various tubes are doing to your life, but screen addiction is tricky. There’s no tangible negative result, like a hangover for example. While it’s a little frightening how much time we spend staring at screens, really, what else would we be doing? Raking leaves? Working? Talking to each other? No thanks. Not when 30 Rock is on.
So really, the best thing to do as the air gets chilly is stay in and embrace all of the crap everyone is producing (this blog included) and have a laugh. Plus, this will stop H1N1 in its tracks. Here are my favorite time wasters in the zeitgeist this week. All are inappropriate and all are funny as hell. Thanks everyone.
